Chinchilla

The Chinchilla is a longhair, like the Persian and is distinguished by large green or blue-green eyes. They are a lighter cat all-through, less bone and substance and have a delicacy that would be incorrect in the Persian. The Chinchilla coat is also of a silky texture and finer, though the coat still requires daily grooming to keep the cat comfortable.

They are, perhaps most famous as Blofeld’s cat in the Bond films and (for those who are old enough to remember!) the Kosset Carpet cat. The typical sparkling appearance arises from the tipping on the coat; the base colour is pure white with black tipping on the ends of the hairs, although the chin, ear furnishings, stomach and chest should be pure white.

The Golden has an apricot to gold undercoat tipped with seal brown or black which gives a real golden glow.

Although Chinchilla have no particular health problems, it makes good sense to insure your cats.  Many breeders sell their kittens with six weeks free insurance cover.  More and more owners are now insuring their pets as advances in veterinary medicine, plus the soaring costs of drugs can mean astronomical bills.
