Choosing a Cattery

This listing of boarding catteries is to help you find the right cattery for your pets.

The most important factor is the people who will be looking after you pets; the fewer different people the cats have to deal with the happier they are. Cats like routine and predictability and find being cared for by the same person reassuring.

Visit the catteries and talk to the owners and staff, and you should be able to find the right cattery for your cat.

People who run catteries are caring; they have chosen to make their living this way because of their affection for cats. Wherever you choose, remember that your cats will benefit by using the same cattery; they will learn his normal behaviour and feeding and toileting patterns and quickly pick up anything that is unusual for him.

We know what a wrench it is parting from your pet but the truth is that your cat will be perfectly content so long as he is warm, comfortable, feels safe and is given his preferred foods. He is much safer and more stimulated than leaving him at home to be fed by a neighbour or pet-sitter.

When we ran a boarding cattery many of our boarders would be up on their shelf eating treats before their owners had said goodbye; this is not unusual, so choose your cattery, trust them, and you will probably find that you, your cat(s) and the cattery owner become good friends.
